About the N3EC

The New England Equity & Engagement Consortium (N3EC) is a broad group of faculty and staff from 2- and 4-year public and private higher education institutions working with community organizations and students to advance anti-racist community-engaged teaching, research, and practices within and across New England and beyond.

Projects

Reimagining Civic Learning Outcomes

A Regional Effort

N3EC contributors are rethinking the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education’s 2014 Policy on Civic Learning and developing new civic learning outcomes to ensure that future visions of civic learning are articulated collectively by a diverse group faculty, staff, students, and community partners committed to racial equity and justice.

Anti-Racist Community Engagement

An Equity Initiative and Edited Volume

Participants from the N3EC worked with students and community partners to develop principles for anti-racist community-engaged pedagogies and are editing a collection of essays to be published by Campus Compact/Stylus in 2023 that demonstrate the principles in practice.

Changing Faculty Reward Systems

A Cross-Sector Collaboration

Members of the N3EC created professional development resources and workshops to help evaluators and candidates for reappointment, tenure, promotion, and post-tenure review operationalize new language in the Massachusetts State College Association’s contract that recognized community-engaged work as a form of scholarship.
